The Tanoto Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Sukanto Tanoto has been immersed in many projects, studies and philanthropic activities over the years, so it comes as no surprise that they have been actively involved in recent medical discoveries. If you are familiar with the Tanoto Foundation’s philanthropic efforts, you will know that they were involved in funding research that uncovered the shocking stat that around 1 in 100 people inherit heart conditions that can affect the health of the heart and even result in death. That’s 1% of the global population at risk!

Now, the Tanoto Foundation with Foundation representative, Professor Stuart Cook and a team of scientists, has funded further research and studies that have resulted in a blood test that can be used to effectively determine a range of inherited heart conditions. The blood test has been designed to help those who suspect they might have inherited a condition, to detect it early on and manage it effectively.

Why this blood test is different from other heart condition detection tests

Of course, there are other detection tests available for inherited heart conditions, but these tests don’t cover a broad spectrum which means that up until this point, several tests would need to be taken to cover all genes currently known to cause a heart condition. What’s different with this new blood test is that in just one test, 174 genes are covered. These genes are known to lead to over 17 different types of heart conditions.

The test is still being used for research purposes, but some media sources claim that the test is in use at the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust.

Thanks to Tanoto Foundation, the future of heart health looks better

The Tanoto Foundation, under the careful guidance of Sukanto Tanoto, has always worked long and hard to help members of the global community enjoy an improved quality of life. It is hoped that this medical research will bring great things not only for Indonesia and the origin countries of all of the funding parties, but to the global community.

With the visionary 3-tiered approach and leadership of Sukanto Tanoto and the Tanoto Foundation – of doing good for the community through education and improved quality of life, the environment and also for the business, this new test is just one of the many ways in which the foundation can help to better the lives of others.
