Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) is a viscose rayon manufacturer in Indonesia with a 300,000-tonne capacity mill and part of the Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) Group founded by Sukanto Tanoto. As an integrated viscose supply chain player, APR connects upstream plantation and pulp resources with downstream fibre production through its linkage with its sister company and primary supplier, APRIL. This enables end-to-end control over sourcing, processing, and environmental standards to support responsible viscose production.
APR’s integration, from sustainably managed plantations to dissolving wood pulp (DWP) and viscose staple fibre (VSF), enables consistent raw material supply, operational control, and economies of scale. This strengthens production reliability, reduces exposure to external disruptions, and ensures uniform product quality and traceability.
In 2024, APR achieved record output of 315,125 tonnes, with 61% exported globally, reinforcing its role in the global viscose market. This scale, supported by its integrated model, allows APR to deliver consistent specifications and dependable supply to customers across textile value chains.
At the same time, sustainability is embedded across operations. APR sources 100% PEFC-certified DWP and applies closed-loop CS₂ recovery systems to minimise emissions. Compared to 2023, sulphur emission intensity decreased to 12.33 kg/t VSF in 2024 and further to 10.04 kg/t in early 2025, indicating more efficient chemical recovery and reduced air emissions per tonne of fibre produced. Water efficiency has also improved, with a 35.2% reduction since 2018 to 40.53 m³/t VSF, reflecting lower freshwater use per unit of output.
This combination of scale, integration, and measurable environmental performance underpins APR’s value to global customers.
